Accents and Dialects :

People of different cultures coexist in Hamadan and accents and dialects of the neighboring provinces has a vast variety, therefore, depending on the mixture of the regional population, one or two accents or dialects are spoken in any neighborhood and/or township. Kurdish, Turkish and Lori accents and the Persian language are the spoken among people of Hamadan, with Turkish more popular in northern and eastern areas and Lori and Kurdish mostly spoken in the west and south. In Hamadan township and parts of Tooserkan, Persian is more common.

Proverbs :

• (خدا گنمه ديه ,خطي و مينجاش) Khoda ganomo diah, khetti vo minjash: The God has given us wheat and has put a line in its middle.

• (حاشا قله ي پولاده) Hasha qollaia poolada: Denial is as strong as a steel fortress.

• (حرفي بوش معناش بداني,ننيش وكشتي ار ناملواني) Herfi bevosh ma’nash bedani, nanish va kashti ar na malvani: Don’t say something unless you know its meaning, don’t sail unless you are a sailor.

• (كوپك سيزكنده,آغاش سيزدولاميشان) Kupek sizkendeh, aqash siz dolamishan: You have gone without any weapon to a village that has no dogs.

• (چال ما تخته قاپيمي,چالال لر دمير قاپين) Chale ma takhteh qapimi, chalal-lar damir qapin: Don’t hit our wooden door or some day someone (stronger) will hit your steel door.

• (آلو به آلو مي پا,رنگ ور مي داره) Alo be alo mipa, rang var midara: Fire sees fire and feeds on it.

• (چراغ به پاي خودش سرما نيميده) Cheraq be paie khodash serma nimidah: The empty lamp does not light.

• (قوطي قوطي ,چار تابراتويه قوطي) Qoti, qoti, charta bara tuia qoti: Box! Box! Four brothers in a box. “walnut”

• (نه دس ديره نه پا,هوار مكي خدا) Na das dirah na pa, havar meki khoda: Neither has a hand nor has a leg, but it keeps calling GOD! “river”

• (هامنه بزر اوزه لوت گذر) Hamana bezar ooza loot gozar: Dresses everyone but stays in the nude. “needle”

• (گئچه دن گن بيرقاپي سي يخ) Gea-cheh den gan, bir qapi si iokh: Has a felt skin and no doors. “melon”
